Organ Donation

Would your team benefit from hearing a donor mom’s perspective on the healing impact of organ donation?

Laura’s Life-Saving Gift

Laura’s liver saved the life of a 40-year old special education teacher in upstate New York. Trish is doing well and honors Laura’s life by living a full and meaningful life.

The profound impact of our decision to allow Laura’s organs to be donated continues to reach far beyond what we could have ever imagined.

“When you save a life, you save the world.”

Laura Miller – December, 2008.

About Laura

Laura loved helping others and was very motivated. Laura knew what she wanted to be when she grew up – editor in chief of a fashion magazine.

Laura was an honor student at Nicolet High School who enjoyed school, friends, drawing, fashion design, writing, Spanish, yoga and traveling. She loved trading clothes with her two sisters, redecorating her room and getting together with friends and family. She was an inspiration to everyone she knew.

Why Did We Donate?

We wish we had talked to Laura about her thoughts on organ donation so we would know what she wanted. She was a minor though at 14 years old and had not been old enough to get her license and make that choice for herself.

Laura had always been a kind and giving person, and so we said ‘yes,’ never realizing the life-saving impact this decision would have on the recipient — and on our ability to create a legacy of hope and healing for our family.
